Overview

The purpose of this job is to manage bankrupt accounts by being the liaison between Trustmark, the debtor, and the court, and by interacting with debtor's attorneys and bankruptcy trustees in regards to documentation and the filing of proof claims.



Responsibilities

    Process bankruptcy notices by identifying debtor relationships in bankruptcy cases and ensuring proper system maintenance with notifications to various departments to identify and flag accounts in bankruptcy.
  • Evaluate and implement proper course of action for each case, including filing Proof of Claims, filing Motions for Relief, filing Reaffirmations, and compiling necessary loan documents to prepare files for repossession, foreclosure, and direct maintenance on all types of active accounts (close credit lines, block billing, and credit bureau reporting).
  • Coordinate and monitor attorney activities in bankruptcy cases by attending bankruptcy hearings when necessary and reviewing bankruptcy payments to ensure adherence with bankruptcy plan. This may also include coordinating information/ requests on bankrupt accounts from loan officers, attorneys, bank executives, debtors, and debtors' attorneys, while reviewing legal documentation in bankruptcy cases for proper content and verbiage.
  • Maintain knowledge of bankruptcy developments through industry publications, conferences, or other related sources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 3 years job related experience in bankruptcy
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy industry - creditor based
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy code with emphasis on consumer bankruptcy
  • Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Service member Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
  • Effective communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to analyze data and create alternative solution recommendations for problem-solving challenges
  • Ability to practice time management skills to prioritize workload

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
