What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a skilled Senior Counsel to join our Legal Team, with a focus on infrastructure and capital expenditures (CapEx). This role will play a critical part in supporting domestic and international transactions related to capital equipment procurement. The position involves close collaboration with business teams to navigate negotiations, draft contracts, and drive strategic initiatives, ensuring legal compliance and operational success in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


What You'll Do
  • Lead negotiations for commercial agreements, including NDAs, supply agreements, equipment purchases, service contracts, and R&D partnerships
  • Provide legal advice on international trade law, regulatory compliance (e.g., export controls under EAR/ITAR), technology licensing, technology transfer agreements, or IP-intensive transactions
  • Drive cost savings initiatives and implement strategic sourcing best practices
  • Offer guidance on operational transactions, such as joint development agreements, R&D partnerships, and warranty claims
  • Travel as required to support business objectives and transactional needs

What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience handling complex commercial contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, services, equipment leases, letters of intent, and joint development agreements
  • Expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize workflows, meet deadlines, and manage multifaceted projects in a fast-paced environment
  • J.D. with strong academic credentials and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
  • Combination of law firm and in-house legal experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for stakeholders
  • Practical business judgment and a proactive approach to addressing legal and operational challenges
