Senior Accounting Technician

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Accounting Technician in the Sheriff’s Department. Under direction perform a variety of technical financial and accounting duties that require a specialized knowledge; provide administrative support to assigned supervisor; perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, which may include providing lead direction over assigned personnel and performing duties including, but not limited to, verifying and updating assessment tax roll information, leading the centralized payroll function, and assisting with the preparation of budget documents and perform other duties as assigned. Incumbents are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

Ideal Candidate for the job:

• Possess advanced knowledge of technical accounting and financial procedures, with the ability to perform complex and specialized duties with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate experience handling the most difficult and sensitive accounting tasks within an assigned functional area
• Accurately verify, reconcile, and maintain financial records, including assessment tax roll information
• Have experience supporting or leading centralized payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
• Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of budget documents and financial reports
• Provide high-level administrative support to assigned supervisors, including coordination of financial and operational activities
• Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of confidentiality when working with sensitive financial data
• Effectively prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing work demands
• Provide lead direction to assigned staff, including training, workflow coordination, and guidance on procedures
• Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
• Be fully trained and proficient in all procedures related to their assigned area of responsibility
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
