The Associate BTO Project Manager will play a key role overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of strategic projects within the organization. Working closely with senior management and stakeholders, you will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.The Business Transformation Office (BTO) has a combined focus on strategic business projects, innovation projects, and mergers & acquisition projects supporting JMCRS (JAX Mice and Clinical Research Services) as well as JAX enterprise growth. Your role will involve coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing resources, and mitigating risks to ensure successful project outcomes.The Associate BTO Project Manager, Data Governance is the operational engine of JAX's Data Governance program, designed to execute the strategic vision set by the Director and JAX's associated Data Governance Councils. This role is responsible for keeping the program running day-to-day while driving the Data Literacy initiative across the organization. This is a highly cross-functional, execution-focused role suited for someone who thrives on autonomous problem-solving, connecting the right people to resolve complex roadblocks, and keeping multiple workstreams moving simultaneously.The Associate PM sits at the center of all data governance activity - serving as the primary delegate and connective tissue between the Director, Data Stewards, Data Owners, the Data Governance Council (DGC), and cross-functional business teams. Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with best practices. Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and follow up on action items. May Support PMs and senior project managers in executing transformation initiatives or work independently. Track project progress and prepare status reports for stakeholders. Identify risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by soliciting feedback, evaluating outcomes, and refining transformation strategies and processes accordingly. Assist or develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure project alignment. Contribute to change management efforts and promote a culture of improvement.
Data Governance & Stewardship
Support the execution of JAX's Data Governance Framework, policies, standards, and operating model. Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to operationalize governance responsibilities across domains. Facilitate governance workflows includingissueintake, triage, remediation tracking, and closure. Support Data Governance Council (DGC) activities, including preparation of materials, metrics, and decision documentation.
Data Quality Management & Metrics
Define, implement, andmonitordata quality metrics aligned to core dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity, uniqueness). Design andmaintaindata quality dashboards and scorecards (e.g., Power BI, Excel, or similar tools). Analyze data quality trends,identifyroot causes, and recommend corrective actions. Support development of enterpriselevel Data Quality Index (DQI) and domainspecific quality KPIs. Partner with technical teams to ensure data quality controls are embedded in source and downstream systems.
Master Data Management (MDM) & Golden Records
Support master data and golden record initiatives, including Customer and other priority domains. Understand and support match/merge logic, survivorship rules, hierarchy management, and stewardship workflows. Collaborate with MDM platform owners and vendors to ensure governance requirements are met. Assistwith certification and monitoring of golden datasets used for enterprise and executive reporting.
Metadata, Lineage & Data Catalog
Maintain and curate business metadata, definitions, and critical data elements (CDEs). Support documentation and visualization of data lineage for governed and certified datasets. Contribute to the development and adoption of data catalog and glossary capabilities. Ensure metadata assetsremain accurate, current, and aligned with governance standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement
Serve as a trusted partner to business and technical stakeholders on data governance matters. Translate technical data issues into businessrelevant insights and impact statements. Support onboarding and enablement of Data Stewards and Data Owners. Contribute to data literacy, training materials, and governance communications.
4-9+ years of experience in data governance, program operations, or strategic business operations roles. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and keep complex projects on track without close supervision. Strong organizational skills - you are the kind of person who builds systems and keeps them current. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to write clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience facilitating or coordinating meetings, including agenda management and action item tracking. Comfort working in a data-adjacent environment - you do not need to be a data engineer, but you must be curious about data and able to learn governance concepts quickly. A proactive, follow-through mindset - you do not let things fall through the cracks. Project Management Professional (PMP)preferred Certified Agile Project Manager (CAPM)preferred Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or Leanpreferred Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Business, Analytics, ora related field. Master's preferred 5-10 years of handson experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related disciplines.Preferred experience in life sciences, biomedical research, healthcare, or other regulated environments. Demonstrated experience operating data governance frameworks in complex, crossfunctional environments is preferred Strong understanding of data governance fundamentals, including data quality, stewardship, ownership, metadata, lineage, and policy enforcement. Practical experience with data quality metrics, profiling, scorecards, and dashboards. Working knowledge of Master Data Management concepts, including golden records, match/merge, and survivorship. Familiarity with data cataloging and metadata management practices. Experience building ormaintainingreporting dashboards (Power BI, Excel, or similar). Ability to work effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities andoperatewith a high degree of autonomy. Preferred Technology - MDM platforms (e.g., Informatica,Profisee, or similar).
