Chief Financial Officer St. Josephs University, New York (SJNY), invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting to and working with President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., the CFO is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the critical areas of financial planning, analysis, and management across the University. Founded in 1916 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, the mission of St. Josephs University, New York is to provide a strong academic and value-oriented education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, rooted in a liberal arts tradition that supports provision for career preparation and enhancement. With distinct campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island, St. Josephs for over a century has been dedicated to providing a diverse population of students in the New York metropolitan area with an affordable education rooted in the liberal arts tradition. While proud of its Catholic tradition, St. Josephs is an independent and coeducational institution that provides a strong academic education at the undergraduate and graduate levels and offers more than 60 programs. The CFO is the key adviser to the President, and partners with other senior leaders, on managing the financial affairs of the University. The CFO is also an important source of information, perspective and support to the Board of Trustees and its committees. The CFO serves as a communicator to, and collaborator with, all stakeholders on the financial condition and prospects of the University. The CFO is responsible for budgeting and financial planning functions and for leading the alignment of financial and physical resources with the strategy and plans of the University. In partnership with the president, the CFO will develop multi-year plans for both finances and physical plant, including upgrades to IT and facilities. The CFO focuses on making the best use of the financial and physical assets in support of the objectives of the University. Cost control and risk management are components of that responsibility. The CFO is responsible for the business operations of the University (accounting, physical plant, human resources, security, risk management) and for improving the timeliness, cost effectiveness, and efficiency of those operations. Sustaining a highly motivated, responsive and skilled team within the business departments is important. The ideal candidate for the University position must hold a Masters degree, demonstrate a commitment to the institutions mission and values, and have a proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and managing diverse business functions. They should possess strong negotiation and communication skills, experience in leading diverse teams, improving efficiency through technology, managing security and facilities, and navigating higher education governance and business opportunities at an institution of comparable size and complexity. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate resilience in leading effectively through stress, navigating complexity and institutional challenge. The annual salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000.
