People * Customers * Trust We are seeking resumes for multiple Occupational Health & Safety Specialist in our Valdosta, GA. Paper Mill. Principal Accountabilities: Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading safe work practices. Assist responsible parties in completing corrective and preventive actions. Responsible for fire asset management, including fire protection systems, i.e., extinguishers, hoses, and alarms. Maintain chemical and fire monitors and alarms. Manage and maintain the mill's evacuation system, including emergency lights. Work with external agencies conducting safety inspections, safety inspections with OSHA compliance officers, insurance company representatives, local fire department, etc. Record and follow up on their recommendations. Assist with the development of safety curriculum and the instruction of employees. Provide support for employee-driven safety committees and roles, including the Mill's Emergency Response Team. Conduct audits of asset-related items, e.g., pipe insulation, cable tray cleanliness. Provide technical support for all functional departments to meet their business and compliance needs. Provide appropriate presentation topics and materials for employee safety meetings. Participate in injury and property loss investigations. Draft incident analysis policy and procedures. Assist in the development of loss control policies. Develop and expand an atmosphere where all employees feel responsible for safety and pursue it daily. Provide immediate coaching and correction of unsafe practices and conditions. Maintain knowledge of corporate, division, state, and federal rules and regulations, and labor agreements. Carry out additional functions delegated by the Safety Management Team. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in safety management, loss control, or industrial hygiene/safety, or the equivalent training and/or relevant experience Experience - A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a chemical/manufacturing facility Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and AutoCAD. Successful completion of a drug screen is required, and authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Pulp & Paper industry experience preferred. Must possess a strong work ethic and leadership qualities. Strong attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently. The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multitask, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers Ability to exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills. Ability to read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports. Ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety. Demonstrate leadership skills and abilities. Strong planning and follow-up skills. Excellent people and process management skills. Problem Solving Ability to find creative and effective solutions to complex Health & Safety challenges. Analytical Skills Strong capabilities for analyzing data and evaluating scientific information to develop accurate assessments.
