THE POSITION

In this role, you will supervise and coordinate special activities, recreational programs, and community programs to meet the needs of our ever-changing student population at the Hiram G. Andrews Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will provide leadership and guidance for students participating in recreational and therapeutic activities on campus and in the community. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing group programs, special events, and athletic activities that promote social interaction, skill development, and student engagement. You will be expected to ensure safety in all program areas by monitoring behavior, instructing students on the proper use of equipment, and coordinating transportation and supervision for off-campus trips. You will also have the opportunity to encourage participation through problem-solving support and social skills development. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with setting up activities, arranging meals, maintaining equipment and records, and requesting supplies
  • Participating in staff meetings
  • Collaborating with counselors, security, and other personnel to support student well-being
  • Overseeing federal work study students who help carry out recreation activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 3:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with a rotating schedule including weekends, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be required as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
