Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Medical Consultant (M.D./D.O.) for our Biomechanics Practice in Atlanta, GA. In this role, you will act as a subject-matter expert to advise clients on matters pertaining to injury causation and injury mechanisms by relating medical findings to trauma events and interpreting the long-term impact of injuries. You will also lead projects, identify new clients, and develop new business in the areas of injury causation and injury mechanisms.



You will be responsible for

  • Providing expert consulting on matters involving trauma, injury causation, and sequelae
  • Serving as a medical reviewer on aspects of research projects in the Biomechanics Practice
  • Assisting with understanding the intricacies of patients' medical conditions and injuries
  • Providing expert testimony
  • Reviewing medical records and preparing comprehensive, evidence-based reports outlining opinions on causation and permanency
  • Interpreting data from an overall scientific standpoint as well as within the context of the medical significance to individual patients
  • Staying current with peer-reviewed medical and biomechanical literature to support opinions
  • Promoting Exponent's multidisciplinary consulting expertise and your professional reputation through activities such as publishing papers, presenting at conferences, conducting seminars, or serving on expert advisory and scientific/technical committees
  • Collaborating with internal teams of engineers and scientists, as well as external stakeholders such as other subject matter experts to ensure project excellence
  • Mentoring, motivating, and developing junior staff on project teams


You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical schoolwith a specialization in Emergency Medicine or Orthopedics
  • Master of Science (M.S.) or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Biomechanics
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine with Board Certification in Emergency Medicine and/or Orthopedic Surgery
  • 10+ years of clinical practice in emergency medicine and/or orthopedic surgery (trauma or sports medicine experience is ideal)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to translate complex medical terms and concepts for laypeople, and high objectivity
  • Ability and willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice
  • If you have current clinical responsibilities, bandwidth to review and analyze client requests, prepare reports, and testify as an expert while meeting client-requested deadlines
  • Enthusiasm to work in a team environment to provide unique clinical insights with a foundation in science and evidence-based medicine to address our clients' challenges
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
