The Opportunity:

The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Manager will focus on the day-to-day operations, improvement and expansion of the university campus facilities automation management and energy control systems. This position is responsible for identifying and improving the mechanical, electrical and lighting control systems, expanding and standardizing the automation controls and visualizations, and reducing energy cost on campus through consumption management all while maintaining a dependable, functioning, operational system set of systems.

Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the technical advisor concerning methodologies for advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS).

  • Develop and calibrate advanced digital controls systems that provide improved, verifiable and documented operational performance.

  • Develop proposals and provide enhancement recommendations on building automation modernization projects.

  • Oversee the operating budgets for BAS activities, help monitor all expenditures to insure they are within prescribed limits and provides solutions to control expenditures.

  • Analyze job and overhead costs and change methods and procedures as necessary to improve the department's efficiency.

  • Manage BAS expansion, optimization, enhancement and improvement projects that will reduce energy consumption.

  • Facilitate the integrated design process and identifies best practices.

  • Oversee, administer and develop UCF's Building Automation Specifications.

  • Create policies and controls programs for preventative maintenance and repair of BAS controls.

  • Establish and track the continuous improvement of operationally related departmental PI and KVIs.

  • Track and prioritize controls system defects and develop a plan to provide and quantitatively track resolutions.

  • Coordinate with teams performing electrical terminations, commissioning, graphics, programming, test and start-up.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Building Control with the ability to lead and manage a team of Building Control professionals.

  • Prefer knowledge utilizing and programming Siemens, Trane, and Delta controllers.

  • Ability to understand and configure network systems and resolve communication issues.

  • Possess high level of diverse technical skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and acute attention to detail.

  • Experience setting, monitoring and administering division service and project budgets.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to operate, adjust, review alarms, set up schedules and understand programming of multiple controls systems; preferably the controls systems that are university Continuing Service Contractors.

  • Knowledge of energy management systems, mechanical systems, building equipment schedules, and equipment operating sequences.

  • Proficient with computers and familiar with the use and development of software applications.

  • Expert knowledge of HVAC/ air conditioning systems and controls. Knowledgeable in the technical and legal compliance with all Energy Code, Building Code and Safety regulations relating to controls systems and integrations.

  • Expertise in the knowledge of uses and functions of HVAC, lighting and controls systems.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
