Tooling Specialist

Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Tool Room Manager, the Tooling Specialist is responsible for Toolroom Repair Projects, Mold Evaluations, Assist with Coordination of Outsourced Mold Repairs and continuous improvement of tooling. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.


Essential Functions:



  • Perform Mold Evaluations and be able to recommend mold rebuilds.
  • Accurately evaluate and execute mold repairs or changes.
  • Evaluate and check-in new molds from outside vendors.
  • Identify and communicate any possible tooling improvements.
  • Delegate work as well as train Tool Room Lead and Mold Maintenance Technicians
  • Adhere to production and quality standards.
  • Ability to accurately use Tool Room equipment (grinders/lathes/Mill/etc.)


Other Functions:



  • Work with QA to identify quality concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Assists in monitoring tool room activities in absence of supervisor
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, such as PPE as well as all company policies and procedures.


Success in this Role Requires:



  • Ability to troubleshoot molds (in and outside of the press)
  • Ability to accurately evaluate mold repairs or changes.
  • Ability to delegate work to Mold Maintenance Technicians
  • Ability to train Tool Room Lead and Mold Maintenance Technicians.
  • Successful completion of forklift training.
  • Ability to accurately use Tool Room equipment (grinders/lathes/Mill/etc.)


What You'll Bring:



  • Mold building experience i(Journeyman Toolmaker) is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have own precision tools.
  • Able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Prior forklift experience, preferred.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours , including weekend shifts.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance.
