The Opportunity:

The UCF Building Department is looking for a Plans Examiner II. Under the direction of the Building Official, this position is responsible for performing building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing plan reviews and inspections in University facilities in compliance with The Florida Building Code. The Plans Examiner II position requires additional state licensing than the Plans Examiner I position and additional experience. This position is designated as an Emergency Essential Personnel.

Responsibilities:


  • Conducts plan reviews and submits revision requests.

  • Performs inspections, coordinates corrective actions and conducts follow-up inspections.

  • Consults with University Stakeholders, Architects and Engineers on planned projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

7+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor.

Must possess minimum of 3 building plans examiner and 3 inspector licenses (6 total); OR 2 building plans examiner and 2 inspector licenses (4 total) and must obtain an additional inspector certification within 6 months of hire and additional plans examiner (2 total) within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years in code enforcement with experience in multiple disciplines.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
