The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Summary of Job Function

Relays incoming and outgoing calls, monitors operations of telephone and paging systems, and ensures that telephone equipment is in good working order and that problems are reported.

Monitors emergency alarms

Communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients; operates the paging system; sounds alarms and announces medical codes; disasters, and other emergencies in accordance with institutional policies,

Works cooperatively on PI initiatives to improve Communications department for the organization,

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

Education:

High School diploma is required

Post High School education is desired

Experience:

At least one year work experience in switchboard communications (preferably in an acute care hospital) is required

Prior Switchboard experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Familiarity with ambulatory and standard medical terminology is preferred

Ability to utilize a PC a must

Knowledge of Microsoft applications a plus

Work Environment and Hazards

Job Specific Requirements

Answer calls timely and professionally,

Perform Overhead Page Announcements,

Provide Directory Assistance for In-House extensions,

Properly transfer callers to correct extension or department,

Document and report any calls that may affect the Security of the hospital, staff, or patients,
