Position:Histotechnologist II

Location:Long Island City, NY

Length:6+ month contract with goal of long-term extension or conversion to direct-hire

Job Description:

Are you passionate about precision, quality, and advancing the science behind patient care? We're looking for a Clinical Lab Technologist with histology experience to support critical histology operations and help drive excellence in diagnostic and research processes.

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in histotechnology, digital pathology, and laboratory compliance within a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment that values technical mastery and innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform and oversee histologic procedures including tissue embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, and cover slipping.
  • Support digital pathology workflows by preparing slides for whole-slide imaging and digital review.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of results, quality control, and equipment performance.
  • Operate and maintain histology and imaging instrumentation in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and NYSDOH standards.
  • Lead and mentor laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate closely with pathologists, clinicians, and laboratory teams to deliver timely, accurate results.
  • Participate in validation, troubleshooting, and implementation of new technologies and process improvements.

Qualifications:



  • ASCP HTL or CLT or MLT certification and valid New York State license (Histotechnologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist) with 2+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field
  • Proven expertise in microtomy, H&E staining, and tissue processing
  • Experience with digital pathology imaging systems and workflows
  • Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred
