Senior Distribution Manager


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Distribution Manager is responsible for district heating distribution system at Energy Center San Francisco district energy system. Ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of distribution system. Manages a combination of union craft, lead, and contractor personnel.


This position will be On-Site at our Main Plant.


Responsibilities:


*Leads the day-to-day performance and coordination of department activities; supervises distribution mechanics and oversees work order prioritization, planning, and scheduling functions


*Provides leadership to distribution staff; promotes strong safety culture and achieves effective and cost-conscious maintenance of thermal plants and distribution system.


*Serves as a member of plant leadership team and can serve as acting Plant Manager or fill in for other department managers.


*Oversees the selection, use, and coordination of vendors to perform plant work in accordance with company policy.


*Ensures labor, supplies, materials, parts, and special tools and/or equipment required to perform distribution system work are coordinated appropriately.


*Provides regular feedback to employees on their performance to allow them to capitalize on their strengths and focus on opportunities for improvement.


*Ensures development and implementation of department goals, objectives, and initiatives.


* Acts as safety champion, supports and emphasizes importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance.


* Troubleshoots distribution system issues by working with all levels of personnel; devises new and innovative approaches to solve problems.


* Develops written corrective and preventative work orders and schedules for the plant in accordance with plant operational priorities; may involve supervision of maintenance planners.


* Responsible for management and compliance of plant projects - determines priority, cost, manpower and time estimates;


* Establishes and validates estimates for recurring maintenance work. Confers with representatives of equipment manufacturers on matters concerning the servicing, assembly, or maintenance of equipment


* Accumulates and analyzes data on actual versus estimated time, equipment, and manpower requirements.


* Responsible for the implementation of work management policies and procedures.


* Collateral duties and special projects as assigned, including customer relations and government relations.


* Communicates and leads in accordance with company vision and core values


*Supports station safety, maintenance performance, root cause analysis, condition-based monitoring, proactive maintenance initiatives.



Knowledge & Skills:


* Strong leadership ability; excellent communications skills including written, verbal, and motivational


* Ability and willingness to lead and train coworkers to fully realize maximum team potential


* Ability to interpret technical manuals, prints, instructions, manufacturer's data and equipment maintenance history


* Ability to coordinate numerous activities under stress with poise, safely and successfully


* Possess an excellent working knowledge of operations and maintenance for efficient and effective production


* Strong background in MS Office suite applications especially Excel.


* Ability to develop work plans and maintenance schedules


* Knowledge of district energy systems



Experience & Education:


*High school diploma or GED equivalent required


*Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in plant operations, maintenance, or engineering


*Previous leadership in a plant environment and/or formal leadership training is preferred


*Valid state driver's license


*Five (5) years' experience and competency with FIIX, NetSuite, or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.


*High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and familiarity with PowerPoint.


*Rigging Certification


*Competent person in excavation


*First aid/CPR


*Confined space Certification


*Hazardous material Training


*Asbestos Class 3 Supervisor


*LOTO Authority


*Completion of formal steam plant operations training, licensure, or certification program is preferred

* Normal plant environment and/or out of doors work environment. Includes working at heights, high ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations


* Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Valid State Driver's License


* Regular extended and non-standard hours during critical issue resolution and to achieve project milestones


* Occasional travel to Corporate locations and other company plants


* Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, fall protection etc.)


* Requires working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
