Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for quality control testing and reporting duties in the concrete and aggregates testing laboratory; responsible for pulling samples from stockpiles, testing and evaluating materials and comparing it to the specifications. Description
- Supervise aggregate production quality assurance and testing process.
- Conduct Aggregate Testing and Concrete Ready Mix production testing: sampling, aggregate gradation and mixture volumetric property determination where applicable. Maintain test result database including inputting data. Evaluate data for deviations or trends away from acceptable standards. Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned. Communicate results to appropriate stakeholders.
- Act as Weighmaster for the site, following weighing procedures and working with state agencies as required.
- Provide aggregate testing training for inter/intra company personnel.
- Maintain current certifications and expand certifications to allow cross-training throughout company.
- Perform back up parts running, as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of aggregate lab and testing reports.
- Complete and report accurately on timecards and other needed reports.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2-years' experience in Hot Mix Asphalt and Aggregate testing is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Caltrans, ASTM, ACI ,AASHTO and project standards governing testing methods and acceptance criteria.
- Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word programs.
- Must be able to apply moderately complex mathematical equations.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent plus higher trade or technical school or equivalent in related field.
- Candidate must communicate effectively (listening, speaking writing), be able to multi-task under pressure and complete tasks by deadlines. The technician must be self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills, able to maintain positive customer relations and be respectful of others.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's license and have an acceptable driving record that meets company fleet policy requirements.

- Understand gradation quality and specifications.
- Knowledge/understanding of project specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable government regulations.
- Knowledge of ACI Field Tech Grade 1, or higher

Physical Requirements:
- Requires walking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Heavy work-exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Requires the use of hands for grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Head movement/rotation moving head in any direction (up, down, side to side).
- Wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) in accordance with company policy.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
- Exposure to outside working conditions; to cold or hot temperatures.
- Must work as needed, given the unpredictability of how long jobs or trips will take, including overtime, nights, and weekends.
