Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Certified Medical Assistant The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is seeking a part-time (16 hours per week) Certified Medical Assistant to support the Teen & Adult Services division. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing clinical duties such as preparing patient for exams, assisting with medical procedures, administering vaccinations, giving medications and collecting specimens under the supervision of a licensed physician or nurse practitioner. Responsibilities include:
* Collect and label laboratory specimens (blood, urine, etc). * Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies, adhering to all safety and infection control procedures. * Monitor and maintain inventory of medical and office supplies and report non-functioning equipment. * Accurately document patient observations, medical history, care, and all required data into electronic medical records. * Answer telephones, schedule patient appointments, and make appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers or division. * Assist in the maintenance of patient education materials.
* Public Health Emergency Response Responsibilities: All District employees must be able to respond to public health emergencies when needed and appropriate. During an emergency response, employee may be assigned to a role in either operations, logistics, or administration by the Incident Commander and/or Section Chief in addition to regular duties. * Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program * Training programs in process of accreditation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis * Graduates of a non-accredited Medical Assisting Training Program will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must have two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a direct patient care setting * Current CPR certification or ability to become certified within three months of hire. * Persons who speak Spanish are highly encouraged to apply. * CUPHD offers qualified bilingual employees' additional compensation upon approval. The expected hourly pay is $19.62. Full pay range for Class 3 Certified Medical Assistant is $18.04 - $24.35 for a 16-hour week.
