General Information:

JMU's Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IHHS) invites applications for a Program Coordinator for the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) program. This position is responsible for coordinating the planning, scheduling and implementation of the SRAE Program, funded by the Virginia Department of Health. The JMU SRAE initiative is a collaborative effort that emphasizes both abstinence, communication, education and career success, healthy life skills and adolescent development in order to significantly reduce the number of teen pregnancies in the Harrisonburg and Page County area of Virginia.

This position oversees the grant funded program that supports replication of evidence-based programs, the implementation of effective programs, and the integration of innovative components to reduce teen pregnancy in Harrisonburg City and Page County, Virginia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate implementation of SRAE programming. This includes attending bi-monthly funder calls, reviewing staffing levels for programming, oversight on non-personnel budgets, conducting weekly staff meetings and oversight of staff assignments at each
placement. This also includes coordination with JMU Office of Youth Safety for all on-campus clubs and activities.

Serve as a liaison to schools and community partners to coordinate programming. This requires attending bi-monthly meetings with school and community organizations to review program process, identify any issues and community concerns about programming.

Support facilitation of the Teen Outreach Program and Project AIM for participating community-based sites. Co-facilitate Teen Speak programming with parents. This includes preparation of materials for club meetings and activities, leading orientation meetings to parents and community about Project AIM and Teen Outreach Program clubs.

Ensure accurate and timely data collection for all evidence based programs as required by Virginia Department of Health, This includes collection of attendance, performance measures and TOP fidelity data. Semiannual data review and submission to VDH through RedCap.

Supervise two full time and three part time SRAE staff. This includes annual review of position descriptions, annually performance reviews, observation of each staff member a minimum of twice a semester, review and approval of time off, hiring as needed and review and approval of part time staff hours and timesheets.

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of adolescent development and best practices in teen pregnancy prevention.
- Best practices working with schools and community partners, compose reports and organize presentations.
- Experience supervising staff and leading teams.
- Ability to work with youth and/or facilitating youth programming.
- Experience planning effective adolescent public health education programs including experience working with school and community agencies.
- Strong oratory, organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
- General computer skills required and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
