Database Engineer

This role is responsible for developing services that bridge the gap between software development and infrastructure to improve developer productivity and product quality. It will provide support and training on various database technologies (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) as well as CI/CD tools and processes. All this while optimizing relationships between the development, security, quality assurance and IT operations teams by seeking feedback, understanding bottlenecks, and collaborating to develop solutions that create value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for in-scope database technologies, including MSSQL, PostgreSQL, RDS, and related platforms.
  • Support DevSecOps practices and tooling, such as CI/CD pipelines, Source Code Management (SCM), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and other automation tools.
  • Plan, estimate, and manage assigned tasks effectively to ensure completion of multiple deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Develop and enhance services, including automating processes to improve how development teams interact with cloud infrastructure.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to respond promptly to system alerts or service outages.
  • Create, maintain, and update comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and skills development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience developing with PowerShell or other scripting/programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying current with new trends and emerging technologies.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
