Job Description

Materials Planner Level 2 is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory levels to ensure the timely availability of materials for production operations. This role involves advanced demand forecasting, collaboration with suppliers, and analysis of inventory performance metrics to support efficient manufacturing processes. The Materials Planner Level 2 will play a critical role in enhancing material flow and minimizing waste, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the supply chain.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Demand Forecasting: Analyze complex data sets, including production schedules and historical trends, to accurately predict material needs and optimize inventory levels.
  • Inventory Optimization: Monitor inventory levels, establish reorder points, and implement strategies to maintain adequate stock while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, negotiate terms, and resolve issues affecting supply chain efficiency.
  • Production Alignment: Work closely with production and operations teams to align material availability with production schedules and address any material shortages proactively.
  • Performance Analysis: Utilize ERP systems to generate detailed reports on inventory performance, material usage, and lead times; identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities to enhance materials planning processes and inventory management practices, implementing Lean methodologies where applicable.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and quality assurance teams to ensure that materials meet specifications and support production quality.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements regarding inventory management and material handling; maintain accurate documentation.

Required Skills:

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with experience in data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • ERP Proficiency: Proficient in using ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel functions for inventory analysis.

Required Experience:

  • Experience: 3-5 years in materials planning or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with data analysis tools and techniques for inventory optimization.

Level of Education:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) or similar certification preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in aerospace, automotive, or electronics manufacturing is a plus.
