Purpose of Job: This position is responsible for overseeing a high-value shipbuilding program, ensuring the successful construction, delivery, and transition of vessels into commercial service. The Project Manager (PM) will lead a multidisciplinary team of in-house subject matter experts tasked with monitoring shipyard performance across quality, workmanship, and schedule. The PM must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * Promote the TOTE Services safety culture and adhere to all safety guidelines. Make safety a priority in everything we do and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. * Manage a team of multi-disciplinary inspectors including employees, contractors, and other TOTE Services personnel on temporary assignments. Coordinate and deconflict with other managers for use of shared resources and personnel. * Provide broad leadership and supervision in all facets of ship construction, including contractual and administrative functions such as change order evaluation, milestone certifications, collecting and retention of vessel certificates, technical support, delivery protocols, warranty support, and more. * Communicate frequently with the Client and be a trusted advisor. Keep the Client apprised of all key issues and risk areas. * Maintain strong relationships with ABS and USCG to resolve design and construction issues throughout the duration of the project. * Independently evaluate the shipbuilder's progress against the published schedule and provide recurring status updates to the Client. * Monitor the shipyard's productivity by evaluating Time and Materials (T&M) reporting from the shipyard. Identify best practices and risk mitigation techniques that reduce labor hours and limit rework. * Coordinate with the shipbuilder, their subcontractors, and vendors to confirm that all machinery and equipment is certified by Class at the time of Delivery and that all vendor documents are available to the Client. * Attend testing and commissioning activities, including sea trials, to evaluate performance of the vessel and its systems to verify contract compliance. * Produce recurring project status reports for the Client and internal stakeholders. * Oversee all financial reporting and billing related to the project. * Communicate regularly with senior leadership and other corporate personnel to integrate with company processes, timekeeping, billing, purchasing, legal, compliance and other functions. Authority/Judgment/Disclosure/Financial Responsibility: Authority Selections Limiited supervision. Work is performed to a large extent on own responsibility after assignment, with some choice of method. Occasionally develops own method. Judgment Decisions Mistakes and errors in judgment are serious in nature, causing considerable loss of money, production time, or adversely affecting customer relations. Disclosure of Information Selections This position involves regular work with some information which, if disclosed, might have adverse internal effects or objectionable outside results. Financial Responsibility Selections Authority to commit funds for the organization. Skills: * 8+ Years of New Construction experience, preferably with high-spec, DP-2 offshore vessels. * Excellent Organizational Skills. * Ability to communicate effectively with various levels, teaming partners, client and TOTE executives. * Comfortable working independently with limited supervision. * Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills. Education: 4-year degree or relevant experience in marine transportation, construction management, shipyard management, naval architecture, or marine engineering. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Performing these duties acknowledges the possible dangers onboard vessels such as safely maneuvering throughout vessel(s) - i.e. ladders/staircases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, noise level exposure can increase during visits to the vessels. Work may involve occasional work near moving mechanical parts and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Therefore, adhering to all necessary safety precautions and wearing required personal protective equipment to mitigate the potential risk of injury and prevention of hazards shall be followed. Physical Requirements of the Position Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual Requirements of the Position Visual requirement equal to that for clerical administrative whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading, etc. | |
