The role - what you'll do

Barr is seeking a collections administrator to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota, team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Project Accounting team and business units by managing accounts receivable collections and resolving internal and external account inquiries. You will monitor client accounts, communicate with clients regarding outstanding invoices, investigate payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records within our ERP/accounting systems.

This role plays an important part in supporting Barr's financial operations by ensuring timely payment of invoices and maintaining strong relationships with clients. You will collaborate closely with the Project Accounting team to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure account accuracy.

A successful person in this role is highly organized and has outstanding internal and external client service. They are comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with teams and using their problem-solving skills to resolve issues and maintain accurate records. They also enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Your impact - key responsibilities

  • Accounts receivable monitoring and collections: monitoring and maintaining up-to-date records for client accounts and reviewing accounts in arrears to ensure appropriate actions are taken.

  • Client communication and account support: respond to client inquiries regarding payment status by providing detailed reconciliations and account statements and resolving payment disputes. Follow up with clients regarding outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment.

  • Payment investigation and account reconciliation: investigate overpayments and short payments, and work with cash application and project accounting administrators (PAAs) to research and reconcile account balances and discrepancies.

  • Billing discrepancy resolution and internal collaboration: work closely with PAAs and internal teams to research and resolve billing discrepancies and ensure client accounts remain accurate. Support the Project Accounting team on administrative projects, as needed.

  • Collections administration and documentation: maintain accurate records of collections activities in ERP system. Provide clients with ACH payment information and complete ACH forms.

About the opportunity

  • Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.

About you - required core competencies

  • Experience: Two years of relevant experience.

    • Supporting accounts receivable and collections in a B2B environment.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles.

  • Software: proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and intermediate Excel (i.e., formulas).

  • Communication: strong written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on internal and external client service.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Helpful additional experience (not required)

  • Experience working with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint.

  • Experience working in a professional services or consulting environment.

  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems used for accounts receivable and collections.

Compensation: Anticipated range of $24-$28 hourly. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
