BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT FOREMAN OF WATER PIPE CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Salary: $64.15/hourly; Grade: PR Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59 pm CDT on Friday, April 10, 2026. These positions are open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with THE CHICAGO JOURNEYMAN PLUMBERS UNION 130 (BARGAINING UNIT #16). Under supervision, supervise crews of skilled trades and laborer personnel engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's water mains and distribution system in an assigned district, and performs related duties as required ESSENTIAL DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS Four years general construction or skilled trades work experience in performing duties relating to water main OR sewer pipeline repair, maintenance or new construction/installation work. A valid plumber's license issued by either the State of Illinois or the City of Chicago is required. Licensure, Certification or Other Qualifications * A valid plumber's license issued by either the State of Illinois or the City of Chicago is required * A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required * Must have the permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured including a clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability NOTE: You must provide your valid U.S Driver's License at the time of processing. NOTE: You must provide your transcripts or diploma, professional license, or training certificates at time of processing, if applicable. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to successfully pass skills assessment tests and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. The candidates that receive a passing score on the skills assessment test will be invited to interview for the position. Candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview, will be selected according to the cba. Preference will be given to external candidates possessing the following: * At least 2 years of supervisory experience related to the responsibilities of the job * At least 8 years of experience working on a water main APPLICATION EVALUATION: Initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application and the documents submitted. Department of Human Resource staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable.
