Requisition Number:R152632 Applied scientist (PhD) or Physician Scientist Researcher (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:Carilion Clinic (CC), and its academic partner Virginia Tech (VT), are recruiting a applied scientist (PhD) or physician scientist researcher in computer science and analytics at the assistant, associate or full professor level at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) to be located on both the Carilion Clinic and the VTC Health Science and Technology campus in Roanoke, Virginia. The faculty member will be based in their appropriate clinical department at Carilion Clinic and will have an appointment in the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine's Department of Health Systems and Implementation Science.
What We Require: Education: PhD,MD/PhD orDO/PhD degrees, or an MD or DO degree with significant research experience. Experience: Significant research experience, or, if more junior, completion of a postdoctoral research experience, research fellowship or a combined clinical and research fellowship are preferred.A record of significant accomplishment of implementation research innovation and productivity as demonstrated through high quality impactful publications in leading scientific and/or medical journals as well as a record of extramural funding are strongly suggested. Physician candidates must be board-certified as they will contribute to clinical care and the training/mentoring of graduate and medical student, residents and fellows. Other Minimum Qualifications: Candidates considered for positions at the associate or full professor rank are expected to have substantial active extramural research funding, particularly from the NIH or other federal agencies, foundations and/or industry. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a high-quality applied research program, build an extramurally funded research program, maintain their clinical activity and teaching if appropriate, and either maintain or develop high-profile national/global recognition as leaders in their respective fields of implementation science and medicine.
