The Role:

Our site in Bedford, MA is seeking a Buyer/Production Planner to join our Materials team. This role is responsible for Bulk Material procurement activities and supports Direct Buyer and the Production Planning team.

The successful candidate will be joining a high-functioning and energetic team. This person will be a take-charge individual recognized as a buying and planning professional and will collaborate with manufacturing, commodity managers, quality, planning, logistics, and suppliers to drive security of supply and help achieve operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

As the Buyer:

  • Review MRP and release purchase requisitions.

  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments, obtain PO confirmations and manage them until their closure.

  • Ensure rapid resolution of invoicing and quality issues to assure optimal fulfillment performance.

  • Review and resolve MRP exception messages, planning/scheduling issues and expedites.

  • Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate price and terms, conferring with current and prospective suppliers with alliance from commodity managers

  • Maintain material master data for assigned items. Regularly review planning and supplier data and make necessary adjustments

  • Monitor supplier lead times, quality, cost and on time performance, adjust as necessary and work with Suppliers, Global Sourcing and others as needed to make changes and improvements.

  • Lead the monthly Bulk purchasing meeting with manufacturing leaders, commodity managers, and SNP to align on ROP and safety stock levels. Ensure updated in system.

As the Planner:

  • Establishes and maintains knowledge of the manufacturing area and processes so that it can be appropriately considered for the creation and maintenance of a production plan that is stable, optimized and achievable while accommodating agility when needed to support changing customer requirements.

  • Creates, maintains and verifies the Production Schedule and interfaces with Marketing, Sales, Operations and Engineering to resolve labor, equipment and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule deficits and / or interruptions.

  • Ensures planning process and transactional execution that upholds inventory accuracy and integrity throughout the end-to-end material flow and manufacturing process.

  • Adheres to defined Planning and Scheduling business processes; including planning cadence, exception message management and time horizons.

  • Maintain and support relevant performance metrics; establish and drive appropriate action plans to meet or exceed performance requirements; Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Other responsibilities and Duties may include:

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate with others as needed to implement change

  • Complete other duties as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals.

What We Seek:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or similar.

  • 2-4 years of experience in buying, planning, or manufacturing operations.

  • SAP Experience required.

  • Effective oral & written communication skills.

  • Thorough understanding of operations including purchasing, materials, order processing, production processes and procedures.

  • Ability to work in self-directed environment.

  • Ability to identify, research and resolve issues.

  • Negotiation skills.
