Job Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse Director and Neurodiagnostic Manager, the Neurodiagnostic Services Supervisor 2 leads Neurodiagnostic Services, overseeing technologists performing routine and complex EEG procedures for inpatient populations across all age groups. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising daily operations, ensuring technical quality, operational efficiency, and service excellence.

The Supervisor coordinates daily workflow, supervises and trains staff, and maintains clinical proficiency by performing neurodiagnostic procedures as needed. Responsibilities include staff orientation and development, equipment oversight and troubleshooting, and evaluation of new technologies to support high-quality patient care.

This role serves as a key resource for physicians, staff, patients, and the community, and partners with leadership to support program development, quality improvement, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards. The Supervisor also contributes to personnel management, quality assurance, and the operational and financial performance of Neurodiagnostic Services. Services include electroencephalography (EEG), evoked potentials (EPs), nerve conduction studies (NCS), long-term monitoring (LTM), ICU/continuous EEG (cEEG), and intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM).

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) certified by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Graduate from a 2-year Neurodiagnostic technology training program, accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience as an R. EEG T.
  • Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) experience
  • Experience working in/with Epilepsy Surgical cases or cases needing EEG monitoring such as ECOG, Phase II, Laser ablation; or WADA
  • Experience working in ICU, ED, PICU, NICU, ED, OR, and Ambulatory EEG settings
  • Ability in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients
  • Ability to read exams and to observe patient reaction
  • Ability to have mobility and stamina to participate in heavy workloads, working all over the medical center and in the Midtown Outpatient Center
  • Proficient in typing and Microsoft Office applications or equivalent
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under stressful situations
  • Skilled and excellent professional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Long Term Monitoring Technologists (CLTM) by ABRET
  • Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) by ABRET
  • Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R. EP T.) by ABRET
  • Graduated from a Neurodiagnostic Accredited Program
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Leadership Experience (i.e. Principal/Lead EEG Tech, Supervisor)
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Continuous EEG Monitoring and Evoked Potential
  • Knowledgeable in SPECT and PET
  • Skilled in conflict management
  • Ability to take constructive feedback well
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership, staff, physicians, and nurses

The Clinical Neurodiagnostic Department at UC Davis Health consists of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Neurodiagnostic Services, managed jointly by the Neurodiagnostic Services Manager, Nurse Manager, and the Medical Director to provide Neurodiagnostic Services to UC Davis Health systems.
