Summary:
This Cardiac Excellence Coordinator oversees the abstraction and data entry functions of patient care records as required by regulatory agencies, including, but not limited to: The Joint Commission (TJC), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In addition, this individual is responsible for data abstraction and validation of all data entered into designated registries, including, but not limited to: The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), and the American College of Cardiology(ACC), North Carolina Data Registry (NCDR) and Vascular Quality Iniative (VQI).

Responsibilities:

*Oversees daily operations of the Heart and Vascular Quality Program
*Assures the competency of assigned staff in abstraction guidelines, data entry guidelines, and definition updates.
*Assures all staff achieve validation scores of 97% or greater.
*Meets all data submission requirements and deadlines
*Monitors weekly staff productivity reports.
*Creates and distributes monthly reports of abstracted core measures data; identifies opportunities for improvement for clinical leaders.
*Provides updates to service line physicians to new metrics that are implemented along with the definitions associated with the metrics.
*Reviews opportunities for registry participation.
*Participates in Pay for Performance initiatives as needed, Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, ATENA

Other information:
Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* RN NC LIC , R.T. (R), or RRT required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* 3 - 5 years experience in clinical data abstracting or an equivalent medical information position preferred
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* *Ability to communicate (verbal and written) on all levels including physicians *Ability to function in a complex and stressful environment *Critical thinking skills *Flexibility to adapt to situations *Able to work independent or with a team
