JOB TITLE: Data Transformation / Governance Manager

Business Group: Environmental Solutions (ES)

LOCATION: Chattanooga, TN

REPORTS TO: ES Senior Director FP&A

DEPARTMENT: Finance

POSITION SUMMARY

Terex is seeking a Data Transformation & Reporting Manager in the Environmental Solutions (ES) Segment located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. ES designs and manufactures engineered to order refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), compactors, balers, utility trucks, as well as a strong recurring aftermarket parts and services business, and a highly successful digital business driving SaaS growth that transforms data into information resulting in substantial revenue and/or cost savings for its customers.

The Data Transformation & Data Governance Manager is responsible for driving enterprise-wide data modernization initiatives, ensuring that data is accurate, trusted, accessible, and leveraged to enable strategic decision-making. This role oversees the transformation of legacy data ecosystems, implementation of governance frameworks, and alignment of data practices with business priorities. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership. The role will drive data governance and transformation into a consistent framework across its systems, software tools, and data warehouses, and then create / develop analytics & reports utilizing AI and BI technology and skills. The Data Transformation / Governance Manager is a key business partner but is also the analytical engine of the company, providing insights / data in the business decision-making throughout the organization.

This 'hands-on' role requires someone with intellectual curiosity, an analytical mindset, technology savvy, project manager who enjoys driving continuous improvements - technologically, financially and strategically - through well-developed analytical skills, systems skills (particularly Power BI, AI query & machine learning, report writing) and process improvements. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys determining strategic objectives collaboratively, is passionate about working with each business unit to understandtheir drivers, risks, opportunities and processes that helps to execute those objectives, while developing analytics/tools to better measure and understand business performance. The successful candidate will have the ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change; work effectively within cross-functional teams; be highly resourceful; able to deliver strong results; have a passion for operational excellence and possess a strong set of communication and analytical skills.

Data Governance

  • The role will be the business interface and lead to develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and operating frameworks in conjunction with IT and Corporate AI/BI PMO, that enable business leaders to make more informed decisions through AI data, standard reports / trends and what if tools
  • Requires deep business process knowledge around finance and critical thinking to understand how processes drive end results
  • Work with IT to establish data flows and consistent data governance across systems and software tools (such as Salesforce / sales pipeline, warranty tools, customers service, JDE/Oracle ERP financials, manufacturing & quality data, etc) that includes but not limited to customer, product, cost centers, accounting hierarchies
  • Establish roles and responsibilities for data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across the organization
  • Oversee implementation of data quality management processes and issue-resolution workflows
  • Test and validate that data governance assumptions are driving expected outcomes in the designed reports & analytics

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • To be a business partner interfacing with business leaders, working with IT and Corporate AI/BI PMO team, to define problems and shape outcomes, develop reports / analytics using AI & BI data, prioritize data initiatives, using a consultative, data-informed approach
  • Personally execute end-to-end analyses and create reports/analysis for business leaders to have higher quality data, trends, analytic tools on demand by creating a mix of AI queries on data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake), Power BI reports/analytics/dashboards, what if tools
  • Develop 360 customer view and trends that drives insights on pricing, margins, costs, working capital trends which can drive strategic initiatives
  • Work with business leaders & IT in developing what-if cases/business requirements (e.g. pricing strategic tools) with software developers (e.g. within Palantir)
  • Develop AI insights / trends and statistical and machine learning techniques to drive data-based decisions and uncover trends and performance drivers
  • Work with finance, business leaders, IT and AI/BI teams, in establishing a standard reporting and dashboard tool
  • Communicate insights, risks, and progress to executive stakeholders
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making across all levels of the organization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field; Master's preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in data transformation, data governance, data management, or analytics leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake) and enterprise data governance tools

Preferred Skills

  • Strong Power BI report creation skills / experience
  • Good knowledge of Oracle ERP and / or JDE
  • Strong IT technical skills utilizing data lakes / data warehouses
  • Strong project management and enterprise improvement and communication experience
  • Experience in building or scaling data governance programs
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven data quality and transformation capabilities
  • Understanding of financial capabilities and operational data domains
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and vice versa
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels-able to influence executives while performing deep analytical work
