Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Supervisor, Perioperative Services is responsible for the direct frontline supervision, daily workflow coordination, and clinical oversight of perioperative coworkers within the assigned area, shift, or service line. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring adequate staffing coverage, appropriate assignment of coworkers, and the efficient and safe flow of surgical cases and perioperative patient care activities in alignment with departmental policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements. This role provides direct supervision to coworkers within the assigned perioperative area, and serves as the primary operational and clinical resource for coworkers during the assigned shift or designated area of coverage. The Supervisor supports the onboarding, orientation, and training of new team members, conducts ongoing competency monitoring, delivers real-time coaching and feedback, and initiates corrective action as warranted in alignment with organizational policy. The incumbent identifies and resolves operational, staffing, and patient care issues in a timely manner, escalates complex concerns, and participates in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities. This position exercises independent judgment in managing the day-to-day supervision of assigned perioperative coworkers and the operational activities of the designated unit, area, or shift.

Required Qualifications:

    • Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills
    • Proven ability to work independently and follow through with minimal direction
    • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence as well as authority, manage conflict and negotiate successfully.
    • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Ability to problem solve, think critically and creatively
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize daily responsibilities
    • Ability to manage staff and resources consistent with goals and in keeping within the organizational vision and values. Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale
    • 5 years Perioperative experience or 2 years Perioperative experience with additional experience as a service coordinator, charge nurse or other supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Supp
  • Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing
