Who we are and what we do:

We are Strategic Technology Solutions (STS), a division within the Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration (F&A). STS supports state departments and commissions by providing technology planning, services, and infrastructure.

How you make a difference in this role:

This role designs, develops, and guides end-to-end digital services on the States mobile platform and leads modernization of legacy systems to support enterprise-level digital capabilities. In addition to architecture responsibilities, this position provides hands-on leadership in backend API development, API gateway configurations, and enterprise integrations.

Job Overview:

The Enterprise Business Solution Architect bridges complex business needs and technical implementation by translating requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Define and govern enterprise API gateway (Apigee) standards, including shared flows, security policies, versioning, and publishing.

2. Design and implement backend APIs and manage API gateway integrations, ensuring secure and scalable integration with departmental backend systems.

3. Establish API and integration standards, including reusable templates, data flows, and system integration patterns across enterprise systems.

4. Develop and maintain a technology roadmap addressing new solutions and legacy system modernization.

5. Create and maintain architecture and design diagrams to clearly document system components, data flows, and integrations.

6. Collaborate with STS Enterprise leadership to implement common technology solutions across the State.

7. Facilitate enterprise communication for solution review, approval, and procurement.

8. Plan and lead cross-agency business solution sessions with customer leadership.

9. Conduct market research on enterprise solutions, agency implementations, and best practices from other states.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and five years of experience in business analytics, architecture or cloud technology. Substitution of Experience for Education: Relevant professional information technology experience may be substituted for the required degree. Experience in software engineering and design architecture at an enterprise level. Advanced
