Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates and monitors performance of all Radiology Nursing Staff and workflow for scheduled shifts. Uses sound, independent judgment to handle daily department operations and workflow in cooperation with staff, physicians, and coworkers across departments. Serves as a clinical and technical resource for patients, physicians, coworkers, and Radiology Department administration. Participates in department management activities and projects as needed. Exemplifies behaviors consistent with HonorHealth core values. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the Network. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, including the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis and venous access. Assumes responsibility for designated areas, and procedures as required. Performs image quality assurance and data entry operation using appropriate hospital software packages. Percentage of time spent performing tasks may vary with departmental staffing needs. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Reviews patient identification, orders, and history to ensure correct patient, procedure, imaging site, protocols procedure with radiologist as needed. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment. t. Able to initiate emergency response as needed. Utilizes Epic and other and other management systems as needed. Perform activities of a staff Radiology nurse as needed.
  • Works with the department supervisor to plan, schedule, and coordinate daily workflow for the department's activities
  • Performs and documents all department quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed.
  • Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates.
  • Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Initiates, or assists supervisor, with minor staff reward or disciplinary.
  • Assists supervisor in awards and disciplinary action as appropriate. Acts in an advisory capacity during staff evaluations.
  • Participates in coordinating and monitoring staff department orientation, modality training, competency assessment, and in servicing staff on new equipment, as needed.

EDUCATION
  • Associates All staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients must have 8 hours of initial stroke specific education, and then 1 hour annually. Required and
  • Bachelors Graduate from an accredited NLN/CCNE insitution. Required and
  • Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • 1 year Critical Care Nursing Required and
  • 1 year Procedural Nursing (Cath Lab or Radiology Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Certification Certification in ACLS training course, and unit specific certification as required by specialty area Required and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Certification in BLS training course C, and unit specific certification as required by specialty area Required and
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - License State And/Or Compact State Licensure Licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona Required
  • National certification for unit specific patient population. Preferred
