Who we are and what we do:

We are Strategic Technology Solutions (STS), a division within the Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration (F&A). STS supports state departments and commissions by providing technology planning, services, and infrastructure.

How you make a difference in this role:

An employee in this class provides technical leadership and support for the AEM on prem platform; manages system configurations and access controls; supports CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes; collaborates closely with AEM development staff; ensures adherence to platform standards; and contributes to decisions affecting system architecture, security, and operational continuity. The employee acts as a technical subject matter expert for AEM environments and performs advanced system administration and platform stewardship duties.

Job Overview:

Under general direction, is responsible for AEM system administration performs related duties supporting the organizations on prem Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform. Work includes managing and maintaining AEM environments; supporting AEM deployments; ensuring operational stability, security, and performance; and collaborating with developers and infrastructure teams to support mission critical digital services.

Key Responsibilities:

Getting Information:

1. Researches and evaluates current and emerging AEM platform capabilities, administrative tools, and related technologies to enhance system stability and performance.

Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material:

1. Troubleshoots AEM platform issues by diagnosing environment level, configuration, dispatcher, workflow, or system performance problems and recommending solutions.

Estimating the Quantifiable Characteristics of Products, Events, or Information:

1. Ensures the platforms infrastructure and configurations are optimized to support expected user load and system performance requirements.

Judging the Qualities of Things, Services, or People:

1. Provides guidance to development staff to ensure alignment with AEM platform standards, deployment practices, and operational constraints.

Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards:

1. Ensures AEM configurations and platform operations comply with security policies, access control standards, and infrastructure governance requirements.

2. Defines and follows change management procedures for AEM environment updates, deployments, and system adjustments.

3. Ensures functional testing covers environment level components, dispatcher configurations, workflows, and platform stability criteria.

Developing Objectives and Strategies:

1. Recommends improvements to AEM infrastructure and configurations when capacity, performance, or operational stability needs evolve.

2. Helps develop platform standards, operational procedures, and administrative guidelines for AEM environments.

3. Works with vendors and technical partners as needed to evaluate tools supporting AEM administration, monitoring, and stability.

Scheduling Work and Activities:

1. Plans deployment activities and scheduling for AEM code releases, system updates, and environment refreshes across development, testing, and production.

Drafting, Laying Out, and Specifying Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment:

1. Works with network, systems, middle ware, and security personnel to ensure proper planning and implementation of AEM operational needs and dependencies.

2. Supports deployment of AEM code packages, dispatcher updates, and system configurations, collaborating with developers and infrastructure teams.

3. Designs, documents, and maintains the configuration of AEM environments (development, preprod, and production).

4. Creates and maintains diagrams documenting AEM platform architecture including physical, software, network, security, and data flow components.

5. Participates in development and review of procurement requests and vendor evaluations for tools and technologies supporting AEM operations.

Interpreting the Meaning of Information for Others:

1. Communicates AEM platform configurations, system decisions, and technical recommendations to project team members and stakeholders.

2. Provides expert problem solving and technical judgment on AEM system issues.

Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates:

1. Presents platform recommendations and technical details to staff with varying technical backgrounds and to upper management.

2. Interacts with project managers, business analysts, and technical personnel to validate requirements affecting AEM environments and system operations.

Communicating with Persons outside the Organization:

1. Communicates with external vendors or technical partners to research platform enhancements, troubleshooting methods, or operational tools.

Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others:

1. Defines and negotiates service level expectations related to AEM uptime, deployment support, access controls, and operational processes.

Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others:

1. Works with development teams to ensure code aligns with AEM best practices and environment requirements.

Training and Teaching Others:

1. Identifies system administration skill gaps and recommends training for platform operations, AEM administration techniques, and environment support.

Provide Consultation and Advice to Others:

1. Provides expertise on AEM system integration protocols, dispatcher configurations, workflow management, CI/CD support, and environment strategy.

2. Acts as an internal consultant and mentor to enhance platform knowledge across the technical team.

3. Serves as a champion for operational excellence, stability, and best practices across AEM environments.

Staffing Organizational Units:

1. Participates in the selection of technical personnel involved in AEM development, platform support, or related system administration functions
