THE POSITION

Are you a college student searching for a summer internship? Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS) has an exciting opportunity located in our Headquarter office in Harrisburg, PA. This internship will be within the Bureau of Benefit Administration and will focus on completing office work that will support the Bureau. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Bureau of Benefit Administration Intern, you will be responsible for providing clerical and office support within the Bureau of Benefit Administration to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Work tasks will provide exposure to a functional business office environment. You may also have the opportunity to provide support to other bureaus within PSERS as needed. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Scheduling appointments
  • Entering data
  • Sending routine correspondence
  • Assisting with preparations for presentations
  • Filing, reviewing, and scanning documents as necessary
  • Assisting on assigned projects

Essential functions of this position include: proficiency with computers, ability to complete work assignments in a professional manner, ability to follow directions, ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally, and provide customer service.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Internship, May 2026 through August 2026
  • Work hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week during business hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours are flexible with school schedules, within these parameters.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Internship Requirements:

  • Must currently be enrolled in college full-time (12 or more undergraduate credits or 9 or more graduate credits).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be in good academic standing (defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have the ability to remain employed beginning May 2026 through August 2026.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Ability to work 30 hours a week from start date through August 2026.
  • Experience using office equipment such as printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products including Word and Excel.
  • Telephone etiquette, customer service skills, and typing skills.
  • Able to work in and commute to PSERS office in Harrisburg, PA.
