Patient Registration Specialist Schedule: 6pm-6am, Rotating Location: Emergency Department About the Role Join a fastpaced, highly dynamic Emergency Department team where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital role in patient experience by supporting registration, verification, and patient identification across multiple entry points of the ER. This role includes periods of intense activity, balanced with downtime for administrative tasks. You will be crosstrained in three key areas: 1. Front Desk * Greet and check in patients entering through the main ER entrance * Collect identification and insurance documentation * Provide inperson support beyond the desk when needed * Partner with security teams to ensure safety and compliance * Welcome and document family/friend arrivals 2. Ambulance Bay * Register patients arriving via EMS or medical transport * Monitor radio traffic for incoming cases (e.g., stroke alerts, trauma alerts) 3. ED Floor * Respond quickly to overhead pages for new registrations * Assist in identifying patients using any available information (documents, EMS details, personal items, etc.) Key Responsibilities * Use the registration board to track patient arrivals, registration needs, insurance verification status, and discharge updates * Enter accurate patient data with strong attention to detail * Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, clinical staff, and leadership * Maintain composure and efficiency in urgent situations Required Qualifications * 2+ years of customer service experience * Highly adaptable; comfortable rotating between different registration areas * Strong accuracy in data entry * Quick thinker with professional decisionmaking * Empathy and compassion for patients and families * Excellent communication skills What's in It for You * Meaningful work that directly supports patient care in critical moments * Training and professional development opportunities * Support for certifications and career growth * Comprehensive benefits package * Opportunities for advancement or lateral movement across departments Emergency Department Environment You'll be part of a facility offering: * Expert adult and pediatric emergency care * 24/7 access to advanced hospital services (MRI, CT, cath lab, surgery, orthopedics, women's health, and more) * Access to a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center through coordinated hospital systems * Helipad support for critical air transport * Private patient and family spaces, bedside registration, and modern charting systems * Onsite social work and chaplaincy services Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fishers, IN.
