Water Engineer

GFT is seeking a Water Engineer to join our Team in Richmond, VA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Richmond, VA office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Water Engineer, you will provide technical support to a team of skilled engineers and project managers, leveraging your expertise to enhance the team's capabilities while supporting multiple projects simultaneously. In this role, you will oversee planning and design of water treatment plant upgrades, water distribution systems, and stormwater assets, as well as pump stations. You will also prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates for both new construction and rehabilitation projects.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Supporting condition assessment evaluations for water and stormwater assets, including pipelines and pump stations, using various design approaches and technologies.
• Meeting established budget and delivery schedules for each task assignment, including scope, schedule, and budget.
• Working directly with municipal clients to identify needs and provide solutions, while helping draft task order proposals.
• Coordinating the execution of projects with other disciplines and the Project Manager and/or Contract Manager.
• Developing small to large design projects from planning to construction.
• Preparing complete construction packages (including plans, specs, and OPCC) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water systems for clients.
• Supporting growth of client relationships.
• Creating and managing cost estimates and project schedules, ensuring design tasks are completed within budget and on schedule.
• Preparing detailed engineering calculations and performing technical analyses which may involve utilizing 3^rd party software platforms.
• Participating in local office activities to encourage collaboration, foster client development, and improve office camaraderie.
