Role Summary

As an EIT I in SSR's Industrial Business Unit, you'll support project delivery inside an active food and beverage plant environment while learning how capital projects move from scope definition through construction. This role is built for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on exposure to plant operations, client coordination, contractor management, budgets, and project execution. You'll work onsite each day alongside SSR project managers, client stakeholders, and contractors, building the foundation for long-term growth and a potential path into project management.

What You'll Do

You'll learn by working inside the plant and supporting real industrial projects from planning through field execution.

  • Assist project managers with project coordination, meeting follow-up, scope definition, action tracking, and day-to-day support for food and beverage plant projects.
  • Work onsite daily within an operating plant and site trailer, gaining firsthand understanding of plant operations, production constraints, shutdown windows, and how projects must be executed around them.
  • Support the planning and delivery of capital improvement, renovation, maintenance, and shutdown-related projects in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Help coordinate design teams, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to keep work aligned with project scope, schedule, safety expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Participate in client-facing interactions and build strong working relationships with plant personnel while learning how to communicate clearly, professionally, and with urgency.
  • Assist with construction management activities by documenting field conditions, tracking progress, identifying issues, and helping keep contractors on track during active work.
  • Learn the major systems, processes, and operational realities of a food and beverage plant so you can better understand project impacts, sequencing, and execution risk.
  • Develop an understanding of project budgets, schedule drivers, and best practices that help industrial projects stay organized, efficient, and successful.
  • Contribute to project documentation, reports, schedules, meeting notes, and other materials that support execution and client communication

  • Support periods of accelerated work, including overtime during critical shutdowns or fresh-pack season, plant schedules require urgent project execution.

Who We're Looking For:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related engineering discipline; food, agricultural, and other applicable engineering degrees will be considered.
  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in an active industrial plant environment with no work-from-home arrangement.
  • Willingness to work around plant operating schedules, including periods of overtime needed to support shutdown work or seasonal production demands.
  • Strong interest in learning industrial project delivery, plant operations, and construction management in a client-facing setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship, co-op, or early career experience in industrial, manufacturing, food and beverage, engineering consulting, or construction environments.
  • Interest in a long-term engineering or project management growth path within SSR's Industrial Business Unit.
  • Comfortable working in plant conditions that may include work boots, active jobsite traffic, variable temperatures, noise, and occasionally messy environments.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills when working with project managers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Exposure to budgeting, scheduling, scope development, contractor coordination, or field observation activities is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn how industrial projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered inside an operating facility.
