Job Summary
The Data Center Superintendent leads the planning, coordination, and field execution of complex data center infrastructure installation projects from kickoff through commissioning. This role oversees structured cabling and low voltage installations while managing project schedules, site readiness, installation quality, safety compliance, and cross-functional coordination. The superintendent directs field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to technical standards. Working closely with engineering, operations, and client stakeholders, this role manages project milestones, resolves installation challenges, communicates progress and risks, and ensures installations meet technical, budgetary, and timeline objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in structured cabling or technical infrastructure environments, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in active mission-critical facilities. Job Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations for structured cabling and low voltage installations in active data center or mission-critical environments
- Oversee project execution from kickoff through commissioning, ensuring milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met
- Review and interpret project blueprints, installation plans, and scope documentation to guide field execution
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress against milestones, and implement recovery plans when timelines shift
- Coordinate site readiness requirements including power, networking, infrastructure, safety clearances, and facility access
- Direct installation crews, field technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and rigging teams to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
- Ensure installation practices meet industry standards and quality requirements, including structured cabling and infrastructure best practices
- Monitor installation quality, compliance, and readiness for testing and commissioning
- Identify project risks, bottlenecks, and installation challenges and implement solutions to maintain schedule and quality objectives
- Communicate project progress, risks, mitigation strategies, and schedule updates to internal stakeholders and client representatives
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for project managers, contractors, and client stakeholders during installation activities
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings, audits, and toolbox talks while enforcing safety standards and jobsite protocols
- Maintain organized project documentation including progress tracking, installation updates, and issue resolution records
- Support coordination across engineering, operations, logistics, and field service teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Mentor field staff and promote adherence to safety standards, installation quality, and professional conduct on job sites
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 5 to 7+ years of experience in structured cabling, low voltage installation, or technical infrastructure deployment
- 3+ years of experience supervising field technicians, installation crews, or subcontractors
- Experience working in data center, colocation, commercial, or mission-critical infrastructure environments
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, fiber and copper infrastructure, cable tray systems, ladder racks, and MDF/IDF buildouts
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, installation plans, and technical documentation
- Experience managing project schedules, installation milestones, and field coordination activities
- Familiarity with site readiness requirements including power, networking infrastructure, rigging, and safety compliance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast-paced installation environments
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
- Strong organizational and documentation skills for tracking project progress and field activities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Teams, and Outlook
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms preferred
- OSHA 10 certification preferred; additional safety certifications such as lift operation, fall protection, or confined space training are a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, lifts, or in active construction environments for extended periods
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
