Job Title: IT Field Support IV

Location: Fremont, CA 94555

Duration: 2+ months with possible extension


Job Description:

  • The Role IT Systems Technician - Data Collections Operations - Support a data collections operation running on 130+ Fedora Linux and Windows machines on a lab network. Keep machines healthy, provision new ones, and troubleshoot issues.



Must-Have Skills

  • Linux administration (Fedora/RHEL preferred) and Windows experience.
  • Basic shell usage (Bash, PowerShell).
  • Networking fundamentals, including DNS, static IPs, firewalls, and isolated networks.
  • Experience with IT automation (e.g., Ansible).



Nice-to-have Skills

  • Shell scripting (Bash/PowerShell).1
  • Basic PostgreSQL administration (e.g., backups, user management, simple queries).1
  • Experience with systemd services and Windows services



Years of overall experience required - More than 5 years of experience

Degrees/certifications required - Must have degree in computer science and if no degree then atleast 10 years

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot a mixed fleet of Windows and Fedora workstations plus database servers provision and image new machines
  • Troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, and connected devices
  • Maintain local network connectivity
  • Support non-technical operators with day-to-day issues
  • Manage user accounts on a local network


Key Projects:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting a mixed environment of Windows and Fedora workstations, along with database servers.
  • Provisioning and imaging new machines.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, peripherals, and connected devices.
  • Ensuring local network connectivity is maintained.
  • Supporting non-technical operators with their day-to-day IT issues.
  • Managing user accounts on the local network
