Sodexo is currently seeking a Legal Administrator to join our team. This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel and has the primary responsibility of overseeing the daily operations of the Corporate Law Department (including Government Affairs and Corporate Security), as well as, handling special projects as needed for senior management. This position supervises one employee and works very closely with the General Counsel and Direct Reports to the General Counsel. The duties are in the areas of Finance, HR, IT, and general office management.

This is a Hybrid position, requires 3 days in the office at our headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD.

Key Responsibilities:

    Work with Finance Department and General Counsel to prepare detailed departmental budge in excess of $12M
  • Independently monitors the budget throughout the fiscal year, including monthly and quarterly adjustments to forecast
  • Identify and recommend new operating efficiencies
  • Modify existing and implement new Law Department policies and procedures
  • Handle all internal Law Department communications
  • Responsible for maintaining and modifying data on SharePoint sites to include Law department web portal, and intranet site
  • Directly supervise the Senior Accounting Assistant and the Accounts Payable function
  • Manage the relationship and all communications with IT, including new hardware and software orders; Track fixed asset inventory
  • Administrator of the matter management system and is a backup to the Paralegal in providing assistance to firms regarding any e-billing questions or concerns
  • Analyze spending on outside counsel expenses; Identify trends and resolve related issues
  • Provide the necessary reports and information to external audit agency
  • Oversee the daily administrative operations of the Law Department including space allocation and management, manage department spending, training, quarterly and departmental meetings and employee activities
  • Prepare spending and compensation information for annual outside compensation and spending survey
  • Take responsibility for other duties and projects as assigned by senior management
  • Plan all employee parties, activities, charity events, etc. promoting increased participation and interest for such events

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent qualifying work experience
  • 4-6 years of work experience utilizing accounting/finance, technology, human resources and communication skills in the management of a corporate office or law firm enviornment
  • Maintain good communications and interpersonal skill with all levels of staff
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and stay very organized
  • Ability to identify potential operational or administrative issues and recommend and implement solutions
  • General understanding of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of basic HR functions, including employee relations.
  • General understanding of desktop PC and software technology.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence people over which there is no direct authority
  • Understanding of legal business processes

Position Summary

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in business-related field
