DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will ensure the safety and security of the CCC. You will effectively communicate and establish positive working relationships with reentrants that support their successful release back into the community. This will include:
- Documenting reentrant counts, searching reentrant property, and controlling reentrant and visitor movement
- Observing reentrant behavior through one-on-one and group interactions
- Monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems
- Administering and documenting breathalyzer tests and urinalysis tests
- Conducting new reentrant orientation, monitoring reentrant community destination checks, and logging telephone usage

In addition, you will serve as a point of contact for law enforcement, provide information to visitors, and demonstrate sensitivity to public and crime victim needs, concerns, and complaints by taking appropriate action to respond.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Your work schedule will be determined.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,081.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must successfully complete classroom training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
- You must be willing and able to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
- You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
- One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
