Job Summary The Chemical Sensors Lab in the Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to work with a cross-disciplinary team focused on developing sensors and instrumentation for ocean and environmental applications. This position is specifically related to interferometric sensor development. Significant duties include designing, prototyping, testing, and characterizing the sensor system on the lab bench, and leading optical design tasks and experimentation. A strong understanding of optical interferometry and familiarity with fiber optics is required. Strong technical skills and ability to document engineering designs are required.Job Description This is an early to mid-career level position for someone who has previously demonstrated the ability to build and test optical sensors or systems. Initially, this position will have direct supervision to achieve structured and assigned objectives and is expected to later expand to broader and more independent tasks. The candidate will be expected to work on tasks requiring creativity and independent thinking, along with a proven understanding of fundamental research and engineering principles. The candidate will have expertise in optics through either a recognized degree or through experience at a previous engineering position. Essential Functions & Duties Example:
Required Experience & Education Ph.D Additional Job Requirements Salary Range: $68,300 - $72,000 The salary range provided for this position reflects the expected minimum and maximum base pay for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions. In addition to base salary, eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
