As the Director of Football Operations, you will play a critical leadership role in supporting Duke Football by ensuring seamless daily operations, strong communication, and an exceptional student-athlete experience. You'll collaborate closely with coaches, staff, student-athletes, families, and campus partners in a fast-paced, high-impact Division I environment.

What You'll Do:
Program & Game Operations


  • Serve as the primary liaison for game operations staff.
  • Attend weekly and monthly ACC meetings (via Zoom) as required.
  • Attend bowl selection meetings, bowl site visits, and required game-related meetings with the Chief of Staff.
  • Communicate away-game schedules and logistics to all internal and external stakeholders.


Team Travel & Logistics


  • Oversee all team travel preparation, including:

    • Flights (menus and seat assignments)
    • Hotel accommodations (rooming lists and banquet event orders)
    • Bus scheduling for team travel and daily activities


  • Coordinate team attendance for travel in partnership with the Director of Player Development.


Nutrition & Dining Coordination


  • Serve as liaison to the Team Dietician to coordinate:

    • Preseason camp meals
    • Pre-departure snacks
    • Post-game meals


  • Act as the primary point of contact between football student-athletes and Dining Services.


Staff & Operational Leadership


  • Oversee the football operations staff.
  • Support internal onboarding and offboarding for football staff, including:

    • Teamworks communications and messaging
    • Office space coordination
    • Communication with Equipment, IT, Facilities, and other Athletics partners


  • Support recruiting and football operations initiatives as needed.


Facilities, Housing & Student-Athlete Support


  • Monitor football facility needs and report issues to the Chief of Staff.
  • Manage all football housing processes, including applications, room selection, and stakeholder communication.
  • Serve as liaison with the Bursar and Compliance regarding player scholarship stipends and resolve related issues.


Engagement & Events


  • Lead communication with parents and parent organizations.
  • Assist with planning and execution of the annual Football Awards Show, including coordination with Operations and guest list management.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of football operations experience (Division I experience preferred)
  • 5 years of experience strongly preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe products
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and communicate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.

Requires the ability to manage operational and administrative activities related to the athletics industry, generally acquired through three years of experience in athletics operations, running an athletics department, and/or operations management at a high corporate level. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $68,970.00 to USD $127,008.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
