About the Position...

The Account Payable Accountant (APA) is an onsite position and does not have remote opportunities.

The Account Payable Accountant (APA) fosters meaningful, collaborative, and effective relationships that reflect respect, integrity, and excellence with clients, colleagues, management team, and Executives. The APA is responsible for managing various accounts payable functions and accounting activities, including Fixed Assets, Prepaids, Accrued Expenses, and Cash activities, and vendor management functions. The APA acts with a high degree of independent judgement and discretion and works with the Accounts Payable team to maintain accurate vendor records, monthly accruals, and timely vendor payments. Additionally, they review and escalate accounts payable performance measures and prepare various weekly, quarterly, and annual reports. The APA performs research, conducts analysis, and shares their expertise with Accounts Payable team while balancing competing priorities and timelines within the Finance Department. Working closely with the Operational Accounting Manager (OAM) to uphold a strong internal environment and assists the team in obtaining a Satisfactory rating, at minimum, on assigned audits and exams. As needed, the APA will assist the team with responses to internal and external inquiries and merger-related integration and conversion-related activities. The APA adaptable and supports the OAM with other duties and projects as assigned. All duties are performed accurately, timely, and efficiently, and according to Bank policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulation.

Education & Certification(s) Required:



  • Associates degree in Accounting or business-related field.


Knowledge Required:



  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of accounting, banking procedures, and financial processes.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including its application to fixed asset, prepaid, and accounts payable accounting.
  • Experience with FIS and Banktel software or similar, a plus.


Experience Required:



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or equivalent experience in Banking or Financial Services related activities.
  • Experience in effectively communicating, both written and verbally, with management and staff at all levels.


Skills/Abilities:



  • Detailed, organized and ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong skills in math, accounting and financial processes.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to apply financial concepts.
  • Professional appearance, dress and attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software package.
