Target hiring range for this position will be between $21.48-$28.99 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Research Technologist with a strong background in bioinformatics and transcriptomics. The successful candidate will work closely with wet scientists in analyzing transcriptomics data related to RNA metabolism and therapeutics in human disease. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, leveraging computational tools to solve complex biological questions related to RNA modifications and protein synthesis.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Analyze data obtained from experiments and recommends changes to processes, procedures and techniques to improve quality and validity of results based upon overall project objectives.
- Prepares complex tables and figures for publications.
- May perform library preparation for sequencing experiments.
Using an advanced level of skill, completes the following activities:
Bioinformatics:
- Analysis of transcriptomics data
- Machine learning and statistical modeling
- Strong proficiency in Python and R
- High performance computing
- Bash/Unix/Linux shell
Molecular Biology:
- Library preparation for sequencing experiments
Administration
- Maintains records of all analytical & statistical pipelines
- Draws scientific conclusions.
- Writes portions of grant applications.
- Co-authors scientific papers.
Finance
- Orders and/or maintains inventory of laboratory resources.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major with strong bioinformatics background; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years of relevant experience; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in bioinformatics or data science with at least 1 year of research experience in bioinformatics.
