Position summary
Under direct supervision, the Associate, Customer Service and Patient Collections responds to patient and guarantor inquiries through multiple communication channels including phone, email, mail, fax, and electronic systems. This role supports account resolution by utilizing billing and medical systems to investigate and resolve inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses across both government and non government payers.

Key responsibilities
  • Respond to a high volume of patient and guarantor inquiries related to billing issues through phone, mail, and electronic communication
  • Research and resolve account issues using internal systems and external sources including insurance providers
  • Collect outstanding balances and update demographic and insurance information during patient interactions
  • Verify insurance eligibility using available tools, payer websites, or direct communication with third party payers
  • Identify and escalate recurring billing trends and assist in developing solutions
  • Process and assign referrals received through various communication channels
  • Review reports related to primary care provider and self pay exceptions and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation while ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies
Minimum qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience
Education
High School Diploma or GED required

Experience
At least one year of relevant experience in customer service, billing, or healthcare administration preferred

Schedule
Full time, schedule to be determined based on department needs

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
