We are searching for a talented Laboratory Assistant-Pathology Ops

Hours: 40hrs

Shift: Day shift, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Location: Pathology - Dartmouth, MA

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Under the general supervision and direction of the Pathology Manager and in coordination with Medical and Administrative Director perform basic pre-analytical technical and clerical duties including but not limited to patient slide receipt, patient slides integrity acceptability, variety of lab assistant duties including receptionist, clerical and other related duties both within and in support of the Pathology Department. Answer phones, provide assistance with specimen-related questions, requests & take accurate & concise messages. Prepare documents, slides & blocks for pathology consultations & send-out testing. Receive returned patient materials, ensure appropriate distribution of reports to Pathologists, and update patient records. Prepare materials for tumor board meetings and retrieve materials from other organizations as needed. Perform tasks in the lab such as distribution and slide filing. Maintain computer competency to utilize the LIS system efficiently and effectively, input data accurately. Interact with management and medical staff, including client physician offices. Ensure that all specimens are appropriately and accurately labeled. Enter all specimen and patient information in LIS or department logs.
  • Successful completion of High School or equivalency required.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Up to and including one-year experience in specimen processing/lab assistant equivalent for at least 6 months accepted.
  • Must possess high level of interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Up to one year of related experience required.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
