The Senior Manager of Compensation is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's compensation programs to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role partners closely with HR leadership and business leaders to design compensation strategies that attract, retain, and motivate top talent while aligning with the company's overall business objectives. The Compensation Manager oversees salary structures, incentive plans, market analysis, job evaluations, and compensation-related policies, providing expert guidance and data-driven recommendations to support organizational goals. This is a working manager responsible for overseeing a team of 3 senior compensation consultants. Performs other duties assigned.

Key Accountabilities:



  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Provide daily oversight, coaching, and professional development for a team of three Sr. Compensation Consultants
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and accountability
    • Delegate assignments, set clear goals, and monitor progress to ensure team objectives are met


  • Compensation Program Management

    • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of compensation programs, including base pay, incentive plans, and sales compensation structures
    • Ensure programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with organizational goals
    • Maintain advanced working knowledge of compensation principles in general compensation, Executive and Sales compensation
    • Serve as subject matter expert for the team
    • Ensures operational compliance with regulations (FLSA, 409A, Section 4958)


  • Compensation Infrastructure & Architecture

    • Develop and maintain compensation infrastructure, including job architecture, pay structures, and governance frameworks
    • Oversee compensation systems and process to ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability
    • Partner with HRIS and payroll teams to optimize systems and reporting


  • Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and business leaders to understand needs, advise on compensation matters, and support strategic initiatives
    • Provide guidance on complex compensation issues, including market analysis, benchmarking, and regulatory compliance
    • Communicate compensation philosophy and changes to stakeholders


  • Project Management & Continuous Improvement

    • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects related to total rewards, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness
    • Monitor trends and best practices to recommend enhancements to compensation programs
    • Simplify and streamline processes and workflows between Compensation team and all stakeholders (HR, COEs, business, finance, etc.)




Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with a focus on sales compensation and/or executive compensation
  • 2+ years of leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree
  • Previous leadership experience, ideally managing compensation professionals
  • Advanced analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CPP) or equivalent


This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite at our Minnetonka office, on average, 3 days per week.

The full salary grade for this position is $130,400-$223,600. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $130,400-$176,985. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
