Position description

The UCLA Department of Art is creating a pool of candidates to teach undergraduate production courses and graduate-level special topics technical studio courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Techniques and processes may vary year to year based on student need and emerging technologies.

Examples of undergraduate production course topics may include: basics of shooting, editing, and output for still and moving images; professional setups and standard practices; post-production techniques, tools, and processes; instruction in basics of shooting, editing, output, and display; and, instruction in use of cameras, lights, and microphones. Production courses are 17% time, per quarter.

Examples of graduate level technical studio course topics include: digital technology and construction; use and maintenance of CNC routers, CNC plasma cutters, laser cutters, 3D scanners and 3D printers; traditional wood and metal fabrication; ceramic construction using hand-building and wheel throwing technique; proper kiln maintenance, kiln loading, and firing gas and electric kilns; how to use the 3D scanners and 3D printers in multiple media, as well as other digital technologies; and, instruction in software. Instruction will also emphasize and train students on safety and maintenance of equipment. Graduate level technical studio courses are 33% time, per quarter.

Annual Salary Range $70,977-$199,722. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. See table #15.

This position is represented by the University Council - American Federation of Teachers.
