Indirect Commodity Manager

Barnes Aerospace is a premier provider for the full life-cycle supply and repair of complex aeroengine components from fan to exhaust. Reporting to the VP of Global Supply Chain Management, the Indirect Commodity Manager is responsible for the endtoend management of indirect procurement, sourcing, and supplier performance across goods and services supporting manufacturing operations. This role leads strategic sourcing initiatives, cost reduction programs, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management while partnering with crossfunctional stakeholders to ensure continuity of supply, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

This position serves as the primary procurement partner for Engineering and other internal teams during supplier selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead indirect procurement and sourcing strategies for goods and services, including RFQs, RFPs, supplier cost analysis, and total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations.
  • Manage indirect commodity spend categories including IT, Engineering services, HR, Facilities, Operations, Travel, and professional services.
  • Drive cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value optimization initiatives aligned to annual procurement goals.
  • Lead supplier selection, onboarding, qualification, and contract award processes for indirect suppliers.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize both large and small projects simultaneously.
  • Conduct supplier performance management, including scorecards, KPIs, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, HR, IT, Facilities, and Supply Chain to support production schedules and business continuity.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and longterm supply agreements in partnership with Purchasing Managers.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, lead times, and supply risks impacting indirect materials and services.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, delivery schedules, and procurement policies.
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers, including Apollo (LPP) Leveraged Purchasing Programs, for potential strategic partnerships.
  • Meet or exceed procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including cost, quality, delivery, savings, and cash flow.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within aerospace or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of indirect supply chain management, supplier relationship management (SRM), and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Handson experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar) supporting procurement, planning, and purchasing.
  • Proven experience managing endtoend sourcing lifecycle from strategy through contract execution.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, contract management, and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Experience sourcing and purchasing software, technology, and services supporting IT, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and HR.
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience using data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder management, and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.


Preferred Qualifications



  • MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong project management, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Experience supporting global or multisite manufacturing operations.
