Job Description

The University of Missouri School of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Rheumatologist to join our growing rheumatology team as an Assistant or Associate Professor.
Faculty are responsible for the continued development and growth of clinical services and clinical teaching activities (medical students, residents, and rheumatology fellows) in the department. The division provides care for patients with a wide range of rheumatic diseases at two primary locations: the MUHC Medicine Specialty Clinic and the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital. Additional access is offered through nearby outreach clinics (within 40 minutes) and telehealth services. The Division of Rheumatology faculty are clinical consultants at the Gordon C. Sharp ANA laboratory, serving patients at MU and nationwide.

With 3 rheumatology fellows and an experienced rheumatology Nurse Practitioner the division provides comprehensive care and a rich learning environment.

Clinical highlights include
- strong interdisciplinary collaboration with Pulmonary Medicine and Nephrology for CTD-ILD, IPAF, SLE nephritis, and vasculitis;
- a monthly joint Dermatology-Rheumatology clinic;
- close partnership with Ophthalmology to treat the large population of patients with inflammatory eye disease;
- dedicated pharmacy liaison support for prior authorizations;
- after-hours call covered by fellows with 1:3 attending backup

Additionally, multi-disciplinary clinics with Pulmonary, Ophthalmology, and Neuromuscular Medicine are in development, along with new urgent gout and urgent GCA services. New faculty will help develop a musculoskeletal ultrasound curriculum so candidates with this expertise are especially encouraged to apply.
Clinical teaching opportunities are available at the School of Medicine, which will expand its class in 2027.

Faculty benefit from a competitive academic base salary paired with excellent university benefits, including an 8% retirement match, tuition assistance, and potential performance incentives. The division operates within the University of Missouri School of Medicine's broader partnership with MU Health Care and the university campus, an environment recognized for high employee engagement, national accolades, advanced healthcare technology, and the resources of Missouri's largest public research institution.
