Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Analyst Senior, Academic Initiatives and Partnerships (AIP) serves as senior liaison for data analysis between AIP and the department of Analysis and Institutional Reporting (AIR) and the Office of Technology Services (OTS). This position is responsible for developing and managing data analytics strategies for both credit and non-credit programs, ensuring data-driven insights and informed decision-making across all areas. This position maintains Power BI dashboards and supports continuous improvement efforts of the system by gathering, producing and analyzing data from system-wide data reports and Oracle PeopleSoft.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides data-driven reports to improve program initiatives by working with AIR and OTS
  2. Conducts surveys (e.g. stakeholder feedback, satisfaction and engagement) and analyzes results to inform strategic planning; Uses data to make decisions on program development
  3. Develops predictive models to identify trends and reports on findings
  4. Provides ongoing analysis on emerging trends, legal and regulatory changes, and identifies potential knowledge gaps within each program; informs resource allocation and optimizes operational efficiency
  5. Oversees program evaluation; Continuously reviews, analyzes, and evaluates area processes and operations for compliance with regulatory requirements, LSC policies, and professional standards; Makes recommendations for revisions as needed with a focus on improving operations
  6. Responds to specific requests for data analysis to address pressing institutional challenges
  7. Develops procedures for program development using available data; Updates guides for other users of Power BI data to ensure understanding of information; May develop and deliver trainings to non-technical staff
  8. Works closely with administrators, faculty, and staff; as well as AIR and OTS to understand LSC data and stakeholder needs and provide actionable insights
  9. Utilizes data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, Python, R, SQL) to perform advanced analysis and create visualizations
  10. Designs and develops Power BI (PBI) and SSR analyses and dashboard, including graphs and charts
  11. Develops and modifies SQL statements for data extraction
  12. Stays current with emerging technologies and tools relevant to higher education analytics
  13. Performs other assigned duties as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with all common office software including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Advanced knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, and etc.)
  • Ability to recommend and influence best practice solutions when it comes to business process improvement
  • Highly effective time management skills
  • Attention to accuracy and detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently
  • Ability to work independently and with employees at a variety of levels
  • Ability to discern trends and analyze information and data from multiple sources

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hiring salary range is $72,821 to $83,744.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlined below will provide the Office of Human Resources everything needed to determine an accurate starting salary.
